Buffista Movies 3: Panned and Scanned

A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Don't tell that to the Lazenby folks

Ah, I knew I'd missed one when I was mentally going through the list. So I guess there's precedent if they decide to go with Bana.

[eta: Irish/English/Scottish/Welsh are all under the "British" umbrella, I'm pretty sure.]

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

So. Pretty.

Worst spy ever!

Wait, he got the actress who plays Zoe pregnant? Huh.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

I'm pretty sure they only let Brits play Bond.

Pffft. As Teppy points out, men who were indeed Brits but decidedly not English have played Bond (the first Bond was a Scot, dammit!), and AD is half-English, or anyhow spent his formative years actually in England.

Not that I think he has a chance in hell of even being considered (though he would rock so very hard at it).

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Pierce is Irish, and would probably be more taken aback than Lazenby by the mis-ID. [edit: though it looks like JZ is saying he is a Brit]

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Worst spy ever!

Actually, I meant wassname. The black guy. Whose name on the show escapes me. Not Tom, not Harry. Zoe's flatmate. Why can't I remember his name?

We need more Spooks. A&E should rerun the episodes they already have.

Danny?

Jessica -- I'd been sure that Great Britain was the island itself, and the United Kingdom was GB and Northern Ireland. And that if you called an Irish person British it's like calling a Scottish person English.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

David Oyelowo

He is so much hotter than the other guy.

Compassionately intolerant

I want my Bond with more quirk and more shirtless. Less veneer.

Jason Statham.

Daniel Craig.

IJS.

Why do the great character actors get overlooked for these franchises?

eta: a typo that was only funny to me. Hmph.

Oh, yeah.

If Clive Owen is considered too workmanlike for Bond, I can't see Statham doing any better -- he's rugged with muscles wedged into his crags.

Maybe you're looking for Xander from XXX?

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

Statham would totally be the London thug version of Bond.

I'd watch his Bond movies a LOT.
