And now my boy's in love. All hearts and flowers. But, doesn't it freak you out that she used to change your diapers? I mean, when you think about it, the first woman you boned is the closest thing you've ever had to a mother. Doing your mom and trying to kill your dad. Hm. There should be a play.

What is even happening?

Maybe while we're at it, we can reframe the definition/rules of WCBBT such that they're clear that people are borrowing recordings of already broadcast episodes, that were recorded for personal viewing—not for profit—and that no bartering/bribingish stuff is allowed on the board.

If some people's defintion of lending is, "You don't have to return it," and some people's way of thanking is to send blank tapes, and those sorts of discussions don't happen here, none of that is our problem.

In the Minearverse thread (because that's our primary problem) maybe we could just back up Liese, and state that duplicating unaired episodes is illegal. We don't want to see any requests for it, at all. People who intend to ignore that law will have to do so back channel, and not on the board.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't think Liese needs to be backed up -- her statement was firm and clear, and that way lies piling on.

You mean lie?

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Maybe this is something that needs to be said by the admin user id as well, just to make it official.

Liese, do you want to edit your post to mention you're a stompy?

I need a new tagline.. submissions are accepted.

Liese, I thought your post was clear and to the point. The thing that concerns me is it keeps coming up, ether some people are forgetting or they missed the posts earlier that addressed the issue. Perhaps a FAQ topic on this issue could clear it up for new people as they come?

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

On a related note, with all the visitors, newbies, et al--particualrly in the Minear thread, it may be wise if "official" stompy posts be made using the forum admin log-in, because I think a lot of the new folks don't know who does what by name here.

Just a suggestion.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Okay, late, but I did edit to mention I'm a stompy. Definitely not a bad idea to post as admin whilst official. Of course, I was only being officious, which is a whole different head. Heh. If I were to post officially, I prolly shoulda done it in the other order -- checked here first.

No. Sorry I wasn't more clear. Sumi and you had this exchange, ita:

Though, I must admit that I'm not sure that "When come back, bring tape" fits the policy anymore.

I think the line, sumi, is between aired and unaired eps. But it's something we'd best be ready to explain at the drop of a hat.

Right now, the WCBBT description reads:

It does happen to everyone. No, really. No need to be self-conscious.

Let us help you out. Missed an ep of something, Jossverse or otherwise? Ask here for help -- don't forget to include contact information, and come back and mention when you're no longer in need.

Natter will be summarily deleted.

Now, I don't happen to think WCBBT appears to endorse anything that (from what Jon B has said, at least) seems improper. But I do think that rather than having to explain at the drop of the hat where that line is, we ought to just draw the line in the WCBBT thread description. That way, if/when any improper copying requests are made, and when y'all stomp them, you are asked to explain the difference, you can just point to the thread description.

But Cindy, didn't you mean to state that we're lending copies, when that's not really been the case?

And I'm not sure that the description doesn't already say what we need. You want it more explicit.

Okay, let's forget about the lending terminology for a moment. I'm not stuck on it. The thread (and therefore b.org as an entity), isn't doing any providing of copies (lending, giving or what have you) in any way. I want to keep it that way. I want to keep the B.org we separate from the we (they) of individual posters, outside of b.org's domain. B.org is and should only be giving people a space to post messages that don't involve violating the laws or our TOS.

B.org's space should be more explicitly defined only as a space for hooking up people who need copies of already-broadcast episodes, with people who have copies. The description we currently have already implies this is the purpose, because it mentions missing an episode, but perhaps the words already broadcast should be in the description, somewhere.

I also think we should be clear that the thread is not for the purpose of anyone making a profit off of those episodes. Lending/borrowing were just the terms that came to mind when I posted, because they seem outside of the profit making realm. What I would really like to see is no bargaining/bartering in our space.
