I think the line, sumi, is between aired and unaired eps. But it's something we'd best be ready to explain at the drop of a hat.
Although, I must admit that I'm not sure that "When come back, bring tape" fits the policy anymore.
What Liese said was specifically about the unaired eps, which people have bought and are burning copies of. WCBBT is "I missed last week's ep, who has a copy?"
Being a relative newbie, I could be wrong, but my impression has been that "Bring Tape" was more about taping stuff on a VCR from TV (which I thought was okay) and that the other stuff (i.e. burning copies of copyrighted stuff) was not.
If I'm wrong, correction would be appreciated.

Seems to me that the format is irrelevent. If it's aired, it doesn't matter if the copy is on tape or VCD. Most of the digital copies were made by digitally copying from a TV broadcast.

Jon - I guess what I expressed as VHS vs. DVD is really more clearly understood as aired v. unaired. I think someone actually answered my question above while I was typing.
Maybe while we're at it, we can reframe the definition/rules of WCBBT such that they're clear that people are borrowing recordings of already broadcast episodes, that were recorded for personal viewing—not for profit—and that no bartering/bribingish stuff is allowed on the board.
If some people's defintion of lending is, "You don't have to return it," and some people's way of thanking is to send blank tapes, and those sorts of discussions don't happen here, none of that is our problem.
In the Minearverse thread (because that's our primary problem) maybe we could just back up Liese, and state that duplicating unaired episodes is illegal. We don't want to see any requests for it, at all. People who intend to ignore that law will have to do so back channel, and not on the board.
I don't think Liese needs to be backed up -- her statement was firm and clear, and that way lies piling on.

You mean lie?
Maybe this is something that needs to be said by the admin user id as well, just to make it official.
Liese, do you want to edit your post to mention you're a stompy?
