Any time around Spring Break will pretty much guarantee I can't come. Also, for many cities, NO included, it means lots of drunken college students terrorizing the town.
F2F 2: Is there anybody here that hasn't slept together?
Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon: New Orleans! May 20-22, 2005!
Hil, insent.
Seems like changing the date brings up a whole host of problems. Is there anyone for whom this time of year is likely to be problematic next year?
Is 80-90 degrees really prohibitively hot? Even when there are a dozen and three places to duck into to cool off with every step? I mean it's not like we're talking jungle weather (she says having never been to the jungle).
I will find a way to be there. And possibly call in sick another day too.
Thanks for being point person, ND. I agree that the sooner the better in terms of at least deciding on a city and doing the preliminary work. Also, we shouldn't feel immediate pressure, but it's not a bad idea to book a year out, either; many conferences do since there are so many options at this point.
Basically, I'd like to see us make the major decisions, get the very basics mapped out and maybe book a hotel, and then put it on the back burner until later in the year.
But I admit, I did the recopying and color-coded my notes thing in college.
Also, I know I'm way in the minority, but I love the heat. It was such a great relief to come somewhere warm in May.

This is my feeling, but I'm used to humid places. It seemed like a lot of people were having trouble with the humidity in DC this weekend, and NOLA would be worse in that respect. (Though I do really want NOLA, I don't want to choose somewhere where that many people will be that uncomfortable.)
FWIW, I'm one of the people who had problems with the humidity, but I would go to NOLA in July if that was the only time available.

What. DX. Said. I would have enjoyed the walking-around-sightseeing part more if it hadn't been so damned hot and humid. (And, yes, if I had packed gym shoes.)
Can we include the temperature thing in the city pro/con sheet? So then we can get a bullshit consensus on whether people prefer to be warm or... moderate?
Askye or Hil, did all of the Panda ears get claimed? I'd love a pair if they didn't.
See, I actually think it would be better than DC, because of all the places on the street sharing the air conditioner.
