Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
The new Mojo has Dylan's 100 Greatest Songs (and Bob on the cover). There's some fascinating stuff in it, particularly different musicians discussing the songwriting of their favorites. Loved Richard Hell's bit particularly.
I was just reading someone else saying the same thing. Oh, wait, that was you (thank you bloglines!).
Tina -- I like the E3C earbuds, but I'm not convinced that they are that much better than the standard iPod buds. Unless you blast them, you don't get much low-end. On the other hand, I'm not sure that any earbuds will give good low end unless you blast them.
Going to the Knitters tomorrow, if this cold doesn't defeat me! Glad to hear they still rock.
And, yeah, CYHSY are very cool, but they are so The Buzz here that they feel already done. How lame is that?
Joe, it's called a pause. I've heard you take them. Try it in your prose. It won't hurt.
Also, eMusic rocks, and supports various musicians and my other friend Joe. I just joined, and am wondering what took me so long!
but I'm not convinced that they are that much better than the standard iPod buds
Mmmhmm. Well, I don't want to spend that much money if there isn't a big improvement in quality.

That's what I'm afraid of. I like the inconspicuousness of the earbud but I REALLY miss the sound quality of the headphones I use at home (enormous Koss studio headphones). Maybe I need to explore the smaller headphone route and abandon the earbud option altogether....
Also the Buzzcocks reunion tour.
I saw them open for Pearl Jam at Alpine Valley in 2003. It was their first show together (or at least in a while), and Eddie Vedder was completely freaking out at the side of stage during their set. Adorable.
t shameless Eddie fangirl
I just read that the Gang of Four is coming here this fall! Has anyone seen them in their current incarnation?
Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Madame Condi? See 'em all the time I'm sorry to say.
<pause>
OWWW!! The fuck it doesn't hurt, T.!
Edited to reflect your new online persona. Hey, that pause didn't hurt nearly as much.
And, yeah, CYHSY are very cool, but they are so The Buzz here that they feel already done. How lame is that?
Lame! I hear you though. I appreciate The Buzz or I wouldn't have bought the album, but I also say "Screw You Buzz" and plan on enjoying them and writing about them with many exclamation points despite their "they-are-so-last-Wednesday" status.
Drink those fluids and feel better, Michele - you don't want to miss the Knitters!
Hey, that pause didn't hurt nearly as much.
See - we told you!
Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Madame Condi? See 'em all the time I'm sorry to say.
No, no, no. Yao Wenyuan, Jiang Qing, Zhang Chunqiao, and Wang Hongwen: together, they rock for justice! Not to mention the destruction of China's cultural legacy or the state-sponsored murder of educated citizens!
I screwed up the Beefheart quote entirely. It's "Ornette's not a jazz musician, he's a painter. Most people are afraid to play with Ornette-a lot of people are afraid to go into the area of genius. They don't think they can take it 'cos they keep believing they have to measure things out. You can't measure genius. That's why someone like Cecil Taylor is not a genius. Taylor just keeps measuring that piano-what's the point of that?"
Earbud wise, i have Sony MDR-EX71's which cost about 30 quid and are definitely 30 quid better than yr iPod ones.
Joe, it just takes practice. Like a workout.
I have Eidos earbuds and while they are pricey, they are wicked good.

Or, you know, Carnegie Hall.
