There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

Which was in the same venue as the Hold Steady show, leaving my friends who had been at both shows awed at their excellent streak at the place.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Huh. The Pixies and Elvis Costello played the Newport Folk Festival this past weekend. (bugmenot: projo@dodgeit.com/bugmenot)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

And Bob Dylan is the one making like Nelson.

Uncertainty could be our guiding light.

Any opinions on James Blunt? He just did a mini-concert here at the Coffee Monster HQ, and I was intrigued. He apparently has the #1 single and album in Britain. Never heard of him, but if he knocked that frog ring-tone off the top of the charts, he gets many points from me.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Alicia, I've heard the single ("You're Beautiful"). Pure, straight-up pop along the lines of Lobo or Jim Croce. The song is based on a clever idea, and he sells it well -- it's my favorite song of the summer. I'm not sure I'd buy the album, though, because I think he'd wear thin after half an hour or so.

Ficht nicht mit Der Raketemensch!

You've probably heard his other song in closer (Can't take my eyes off you...can't take my eeeeeyyyyyyeeees off you). He's dull. His special move is that he was a soldier.

Corwood, how old is yr son that you're reading him Moby Dick? Should I be worried that, at 3 months, Seth hasn't started on Infinite Jest?

hip deep in pie

Should I be worried that, at 3 months, Seth hasn't started on Infinite Jest?

I would just try to catch up by starting in on Ulysses, Jim.

Up with the sun

You've probably heard his other song in closer (Can't take my eyes off you...can't take my eeeeeyyyyyyeeees off you).

That's Damien Rice, though. Or are they secretly the same person?

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Hey, I like Damien Rice.
