Sir? I'd like you to take the helm, please. I need this man to tear all my clothes off.

Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

Lyle Lovett is amaing live, isn't he? That was Francine Reed, who has a couple of solo discs out as well as performing with the Large Band -- Lyle Lovett duets on "Why I Don't Know," I think it's called, with her on her first CD.

Art Crawl!!!

I attempted to watch Rock Star: InXS tonight. I found extremely watch from the hall. In fact, I called a friend who was also finding it watch from the hall and we were able to support each other through the 30 minute elimination episode.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

This might be the best thread to mention this -- guess who gets a visit from Liese S. and her hubby??? (If it's not me, this is a really lame post.)

But it is me! They're in Kentucky right now -- they've been travelling this summer with their program -- and are headed to Indiana tomorrow, and are driving through Cincy. I told them that if they'd like to stop and take a break, I'd love to fill them full of Graeter's to beat the heat.

They'll also be back in Cincy on Thursday, for longer than just taking a break -- the whole afternoon/evening. As of right now, it's looking like we'll hook up on Thursday -- Liese e-mailed me a little while ago and said that tomorrow looks busy for them, though there's an outside possibility that they may stop on their way through.

In any case, YAY! Liese and hubby!!!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Lucky you! I'm very jealous. (Also - take pictures.)

Are you still up? Can you hop on IM for a second?

As well you should be.

But of course! It's some kind of law -- all Buffista meetups must be photographed for proof and posterity.

now for the hivemind question . In the 70's there were at least 2 different fake interviews with popular figures and all the answers to the questions were popular song lyrics. for example: Nixon was interviewed and when asked how he was feeling - the answer to the question was " on top of the world"( carpenters) and when Mr. Jaws was interviewd one of the answers was " why can't we be friends , why can't we be friends" ( war) . anyone got anymore info and even where they might be found?

Mr. Scola’s wardrobe by Botany 500

That was Dickie Goodman, the king of the novelty hit. [link]

Mr Jaws actually sang, "Wouldn't you give your hand to a friend?"

Ann, that's a ferret.

"Mr. Jaws! Wait! That's not the way this record is supposed to end! Help! Help! Blblblblblblbl! Blblblblblbl!"
