The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

Have I mentioned, in my music geekiness, that I bought the Live Aid DVD set? Some of that is really, really good.

Final high bid on that collection of 45's? $9,223.45. [link]

The winner sniped with 13 seconds to go. The top four bidders all have very high feedback scores, so I don't think the seller is going to get screwed by pranksters.

Uncertainty could be our guiding light.

I got the Live Aid DVD set for Christmas and watched the whole thing in one sitting. So cool. I was surprised to see how good a performance Paul Young put on - I'd been a big fan of his, but I was 13 and just thought he was cute.

Ugh, ABC cut Madonna off! She looks great and "Like a Prayer" sounded even better. I'm going to have to buy this on DVD when it inevitably comes out.

Ooh, Annie Lennox was wonderful. And I really have to say I completely love "Jesus Walks" by Kanye West. That's a GREAT song.

The U2 set on Live Aid was stunning. Queen was at the top, literally, the top of their game, and Bowie was . . . . Bowie. I cannot judge him, for he is Bowie.

Yeah, Queen was amazing! So cool to see the crowd reacting to them the way they did. The guy I was watching it with remembered watching Live Aid with friends in New York City, and being amazed at how much the audience loved Queen; they all thought Queen was washed up.

Some people are apparently disappointed that Bono didn't jump into the audience or anything this time, but apparently that little stunt almost broke up the band back in '85. And anyway, he probably would have broken his sunglasses had he done it this time.

They're on crack.

I don't know if you remember this post in the LJ U2 community, Alicia, but somone asked a few weeks back whether we thought he'd do something like that again. My response was, "it would seem really cheesy and borderline forced. Therefore, he will be unable to resist."

Apparently, he resisted.

And yeah, the TV coverage (what I saw of it, anyhow -- I had to go to a family thing at 3) pretty much sucked. I think Madonna's was the only set they showed more than half of. But I found out Madonna apparently learned to sing for real somewhere along the line, so it was not a total loss.

I am now attempting to download the Pink Floyd set.

I think I missed that post on LJ, but hee! He probably would have hurt his back and had to perform their Vienna concert that night lying on the stage.

Yeah, "Like a Prayer" sounded pretty great! I'm bummed I didn't get to see more of it. Oh well.

Who's singing in Queen?

The Queen mentions on the previous page were from the 1985 Live Aid ... I don't think they performned at Live 8 yesterday.

Ahh. That's what I get for skimming.
