Emusic now has the Dead Milkmen. Excuse me while I go be sixteen again for a while.
"....the important thing here is that we get to the part where you ask me how I'm gonna get down to the shore."
"Oh, how you gettin' down to the shore?"
"Funny you should ask, I've got a car now...."
When I drive past the kids
They all spit and cuss
Cause I've got a bitchin' Camaro
And they have to ride the bus!
Bitchin' Camaro! Bitchin' Camaro!
Donuts on your lawn!
Bitchin' Camaro! Bitchin' Camaro!
Tony Orlando and Dawn!
I've heard one song form the new NP album. My socks were still on after listening.
The CBC did a thing this year where they picked the 50 essentail Canadian songs. Lots of interesting picks. Lots of things to make you say WTF?!? [link]
Some Canadian music bloggers responded with their own list. [link]
Or you can read the who long process starting here.

Ian and Sylvia is number 1?
Where the hell is Joey Shithead?
Wait a second. American Woman is a Candian song? Who knew . . . .
I'm just wondering why Stan Rodgers only got one song in the list, while
Gordon Lightfoot got a couple...then again, I have been influenced by my Canadian filker/folkie friends whose taste may not match the CBC.(And certainly doesn't match the people in the blog linked above)

The Guess Who, that's who.

DOA made it in at 49.

I think Gordon has a more pan-Canadian appeal, while Stan tends to be better known among folkies and the East Coasters.

What?!? (goes to read list)
Although I agree with Sue. Plus, a lot of other artists have performed Lightfoot's songs, not so true with Stan Rodgers.
Ok, that explanation makes some sense to me. Stan Rodgers is better known in my circles, though most of those folks are from around Ontario.
(Or not Canadian. The World Folk Music Association had a tribute to him at their benefit show in 2004, but that was here in DC)
