There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

Oh, and I am looking for songs about dresses for my new blog.

Depeche Mode - New Dress
Depeche Mode - Blue Dress
Jack Off Jill - Devil With the Black Dress On (emphasis mine)
Lou Reed - Make Up (it does discuss dresses, iirc)
Shock Treatment Soundtrack - Little Black Dress (This was the sequel to Rocky Horror. Song performed by Richard O'Brien, Jessica Harper, Patricia Quinn and Barry Humphries.)

Edited because there IS a difference between VU and Lou Reed

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Tate, especially as a writer, isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I really dig him and can't wait to read the Hendrix book.

I love Flyboy In the Buttermilk, and bought half a dozen when it got remaindered and gave them away to friends. His piece on Ornette Coleman's wardrobe choices was also fun. Plus his bafflement at King Sunny Ade's musicians all being serious Hank Williams' fans. (Hank is HUGE in West Africa.)

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

A quick glance through my collection gave me the following dress songs:

  • The 6ths - "All Dressed Up In Dreams"
  • Richard Buckner - "Gauzy Dress in the Sun"
  • Mingus - "Orange Was The Color Of Her Dress, Then Silk Blue"
  • The Pentangle - "Wedding Dress"
  • The Tonebenders - "Favorite Dress" (I'd probably have to email you this one, 'cause it's been out-of-print since about a week after its release)

And you already have the Versus song.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Versus - "Lose That Dress"

t hangs head in shame to not have included this in my list

Animal Collective has a sound collage called "Loblakely Dress," too.

A) Does anyone know of a good way to find, like, band practice studios for rent? Is there a national network of these things? I've tried looking locally, and can't seem to find anything.

B) Ummmm . . . . Whose turn is it for the g-mail music go round?

C) Lest it be forgotten, Lords Of Acid were really really good.
