Can't even shout, Can't even cry. The Gentlemen are coming by. Looking in windows, knocking on doors. They need to take seven, and they might take yours. Can't call to mom, can't say a word. You're gonna die screaming but you won't be heard.

Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

A fellow makes himself conspicuous when he throws soft-boiled eggs at the electric fan.

M.I.A.'s "Galang" is the free song on iTunes this week, so go git it!

Uncertainty could be our guiding light.

I really dig her CD. I picked it up after reading so much about her, and was pleasantly surprised at how much I like it.

My favorite is "10 Dollar."

Michael Jackson has some serious competition in the I-don't-understand-why-everybody-thinks-I'm-a-freak celebrity-defendant sweepstakes. Will Phil get sued by Matt Groening, too? My favorite comment: "he doesn't seem so crazy now, more hip, and possibly from brooklyn."

Are you ready to be strong?

Actually M.I.A.'s dad wasn't a Tamil Tiger; but he was in a revolutionar group that was associated w/ the TT.

(Just edited a story about her this week.)

David, do you know about the T. Rex DVD/film? Don't know if the 5/16 release date was just the UK, but Amazon says the DVD will come out on 6/7 (or 7/6 to the non-Yanks.) I'm guessing you'll want to see it on a big screen and get the DVD for all the extras.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

David, do you know about the T. Rex DVD/film?

Born to Boogie? Yeah, they had a feature on it in the recent Mojo. I'm very curious about it. In other glam news, I'm also curious about retro glam band The Foxx.

Look! She's all piratical!

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

I must get that. MUST.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

In the Things that will be amusing to about 4 people around here department: a friend of mine, after going to the VNV Nation show last night, has taken to calling them VNV Music Factory.

That's awesome, Jilli. Did your friend see anyone wearing a SimRonan shirt?

Edit: I'm sure nobody else here will get it, but, for those interested, the joke is that Ronan is the lead singer/lyricist/programmer/monkey boy for VNV Nation, who are iconic in the dance goth/EBM scene. SimRonan is . . . Well, just kind of is.
