So yesterday, I came home from the commute and found a padded envelope with an unmarked VHS tape in it.
I thought....free porn? The beginning of a Japanese horror movie?
But no, it is the Chic-A-Go-Go episode featuring the Lost In The Grooves reading at Quimby's. So now I have my interview with Ratso, the punk rock puppet on video forevermore.
I haven't seen myself talking on video in a while, and let me tell you it is a very odd experience watching yourself on video and thinking, "I remind me of somebody but I don't know who."

Scott Miller led the legendary pop outfits Game Theory and The Loud Family, and is Aimee Mann's favorite songwriter. He'll be doing a solo set focusing on the two albums featured in the book, Game Theory's “Real Nighttime” and The Loud Family's “Interbabe Concern.” Also on the bill is Savage Republic / 17 Pygmies guitarist Jackson Del Rey, playing classic Savage Republic songs for the first time in more than a decade. Did you see them on ACL? They kept showing the drummer from the Kinks cover project I played in last year, who was one of the few people looking like he was enjoying himself without being too dorky about it. Apparently, his new graphic design firm did the flyer for the show, so they were guest-listed.

I have no idea how I posted this in Beep Me. But from yesterday-
There was just a show on our local NPR station- Glenn Mitchell- that was about rock snobery. You should see if you can get it from the site. I didn't get to hear a whole lot of it, I caught that Richard Thompson is overrated, and the BeeGees Odessa is unlistenable but awesome in its unlistenableness.

Great playlist, but it doesn't seem to be archived. The same guys were just on the Brian Lehrer show, and the audio should be available some time this afternoon. Only caught bits of it since, miracle of miracles, I was actually doing my job. The not-paying-much-attention verdict: they were kind of irritating, but I'll listen again later. Like the one guy's accent.
