So, I'm reading the article in the New York Times Magazine about the Virginia Beach guys (Neptunes, Timbaland, etc.), and this little bit made me laugh out loud. On the bus.
The rapper and singer Melissa (Missy) Elliott, 32, is another prominent Virginia Beach-area native, and among her many collaborations with Timbaland is the 2002 hit "Work It" (which introduced the phrase "ga-donk ga-donk donk" into everyday speech).
That's in "everyday speech"? I've never heard it before!
And I was already giggling due to "Melissa (Missy) Elliot," because everyone knows it should be "Missy (Misdemeanor) Elliot"! Silly NYTimes.
OMG! NYTimes writers/staff are the Grammy voters! It all makes sense now.
So. Random thoughts while watching music on Televison all night.
You missed a great Samurai Jack. Atmospherically, it was made-for-Hec.
My mix went in the post on the weekend (via a sub branch which does tend to take a day or so to get things into the mail system but at least it's on its way) and I forwarded Angus's as well. Working on putting liner notes up in between installing and re-installing everything on my new machine, hopefully not too much longer.
PS. Angus, I've had the bloody Pet Shop Boys in my head all day today. It's your fault.
Just a quick note to say that I finally sent my mix to msbelle, BUT that I hadn't fixed the volume problem when I did and that she should ignore it when she's gets it BECAUSE I fixed it last night & sent the revised version this morning.
Got the erinaceous mix, & she always sent me tommyrot's. Enjoyed both. Can give specifics if that's the protocol but it must be later as I gots ta go. Please remind me what I'm supposed to do once I receive mixes (other than listen to them, of course.)
joe, you listen, burn or rip what you want and pass them on to me. You will send me all the CDs you get until you get mine.
We send the *original* liner notes with the CDs, yes? After making comments on them, if we so desire?
