Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Ficht nicht mit Der Raketemensch!

I'm up for the gmail thing. It does violate the TOS, I think, but filesharing is gmail's killer app so I doubt they'll mind.

I'm amazed that no-one's talked about the Arcade Fire album - apart from Jon B who dissed it - here. Right now it's the best thing I've heard all year.

Is that a comment on the album, or some oblique reference to issues in yr personal life?

I kind of see what you mean, but come on - you can't tell me that you're unmoved by Tunnels or Wake Up?

I am rubber, you are glue! ptthhht!

My brain tends to flush out memories of albums it finds mediocre, so I don't remember the specific songs you mention. But, for you, I'll relisten to them. I was already thinking ought to give them another shot at some point.

I think they're incredibly unoriginal and sound like all of 80s Britpop in a blender. I mean, even the drums are recorded with boomy snares! That said, I really liked 2 or 3 of the songs on Funeral.

Up with the sun

I like "Funeral," but it hasn't grabbed me enough that I could say precisely what I like about it.

(Oh, and I'm up for the Gmail exchange. Hayden, do you want to just walk us through setting this one up, and then I could do the next one?)

hip deep in pie

I like Funeral quite a lot. I found that their music, that I will agree, is dancing the 80's retro tune that seems trendy now, has an emotional edge to it which I find affecting. Unlike Franz Ferdinand, who seem cold to me.

Sho' nuff. I'll start setting it up this afternoon, ok?

And yeah, I think Franz Ferdinand is ok, but I'd much rather pop on some Gang of Four, Raincoats, Liars, Slits, or any number of punk funksters. Hell, I'd almost rather listen to Rick James (bitch). Please see my earlier comments on the Arcade Fire and substitute "late 70s punk-funk" for "80s Britpop".
