Nah, we're fine. He's just an expressive kid.

Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
Our post-partum doula said she rarely sees a child as unwilling to nap as our kid. Lucky us. He's really cute when he calms down, though.
This is why your wife should be drinking. It will calm both of them down.
Listen to "Treadwell No More," which is from Richard Thompson's soundtrack to an upcoming Herzog film.
Check out this site, Hayden. It has more about the soundtrack & the film. The media section of the site is where I found the book-length study of RT's songs that I linked to a while back. There's also a bit about a new novel based on "Strange Affair," one of his great songs & Linda's best vocals. Great site all the way around for RT fans.
Check out this week's Ron Rosenbaum column, too. (I post this solely because I like to imagine Hayden's reaction when he gets to the Melville reference.) There's a review of Jonathan Lethem's new book, too, but you can find it yourself.
Since Joe didn't link, I will:
Lethem's cominh to the first ever Author's festival in Halifax, conveniently scheduled during the Time of Hellish Deadlines pour moi. Just to make this post somewhat about music, One Ring Zero are also performing as part of the festival.

Sorry. I have JL issues (& I'm really lazy), but I know Hayden likes him so I pointed out the review. One Ring Zero are from Brooklyn, too. Will Paul Auster be there, too? May as well go for the Bkln hat trick.

Last night the bottle let her down. That is to say, she's drinking about half a beer a day. It's good for milk production, too.
And thanks for the link! I love a good Melville reference. And, to bring this on-topic, suddenly have the itch to crank some Fugs when I get home.
Also, Richard Thompson for Completists sounds like it was written for me. Hell, it sounds like it was written by me.

Sweet. I've got that Dolls performance on tape, already.
Speaking of rare rock vids, I recently bought a (grey market) DVD of The Spiders sixties movie Go Forward. The Spiders were a Japanese Group Sounds band, and did four full Help/Hard Day's Night movies at the peak of their popularity. It's super groovy mod action wackiness. I got them from Videobeat online, which has a ton of great, rare, otherwise unavailable rock clips and movies.
Well, I figured you had that one, David. In fact, I'd be sorely disappointed to hear that some bozo on the Internet had a Dolls video you didn't have.

This tape has the whole Kirsher concert. At the very end is a very very fuzzy, dim, fourth generation dub of the Dolls on Musikladen after their first album. It's so. Fucking. Great. I really want to see a high quality version of that performance. Of course, my greatest bit of Dolls vid is having Bob Gruen's TV documentary of them, Looking For A Kiss. That's a blast.
