It's like, in the middle of all this, I'm paranoid that you'll think I don't like poetry.

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Are you ready to be strong?

I missed Hayden's news! What was it?!

We have been talking about talking this summer about maybe shacking up in the fall.

Oh, Jon, that is just wonderful. Will one of you move to the other's apartment, or are you gonna get a new place together?

How's the wedding plans?

Great! I bought a dress and shoes on Saturday. Now I just have to find a good string quartet w/ some degree of endurance.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Jon owns a very nice, very large, very cool and hip house in Somerville. I figure she'll be moving in come the fall.

If all goes well, you figure correctly.

Ficht nicht mit Der Raketemensch!

Have we talked about The Futureheads? Pitchfork described them as Wire meets the Whifflepuffs, which isn't far off - they do stop-start new wavey rock a la Franz Ferdinand (although they do it better, being crunchier and more dynamic) topped off with essentially barbershop vocal harmonies. No, wait, come back! They're bloody good - their cover of Hounds Of Love is genius, and there are half a dozen brilliant songs on the album.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Have we talked about The Futureheads?

I was...underwhelmed. I like the sound in theory, but I actually prefer Franz' poppiness over the rushed crunchieness of Futureheads.

I was intrigued enough to want to give it another listen, and I really did like the Hounds of Love cover, but it's a bad sign that it was the only song that really stuck with me.

Punishingly Intricate

Can I ask what it means for music to be "crunchy"? I see that in music crit a lot and I think I know what it means when I hear it but I'm wondering how you guys would define it.

I use it as short hand for a certain harsh/fast guitar sound.

I suppose it's also been used to describe stuff that's folky though (as in, earthy/crunchy or granola crunchy), so I'm not sure there's a consistent definition.
