'War Stories'

Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

She played with us at one gig.

I was always disappointed she didn't do more with hers. Usually only "I Scare Myself" which generally closed their set. The only time I saw her really cut loose with it for a whole show was when they opened for SPIRITUALIZED at Axis and they played a MUCH more free-form gig.

Given congrats to Hayden in natter, but, realizing now that I don't think he gets over there, here's another!!! CONGRATS to the Hayden famileeeeeee!!!!

Alicia:

Have any of you iPod owners had problems with some CDs not converting properly? Mindy Smith and the latest Diana Krall will not convert, damn them!
It acts like it's working fine, but when it's done, the length field says "not available." And there's nothing there to play.

Do the CDs say anything about being copy protected? I've got an advance promo of the Krall CD & it has copy protection warnings on it. It won't play or let me extract songs on the PC.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Songs JZ has danced to in the living room as I transferred the videos from TiVo to tape:

"The Passenger" - Siouxsie and the Banshees
"Gone, Daddy Gone" - Violent Femmes
"Been Caught Stealing" - Jane's Addiction
"The Boy With The Thorn In His Side" - The Smiths
"Blister in the Sun" - Violent Femmes ("I'm doing the Angela Chase dance. It's after she knows that she has surgically removed Jordan Catalano from her heart and she's throwing her clothes around she's doing this with her hands."

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

David, I was at a party tonight and ended up talking to this guy -- [link] He said he had just finished a book on glam rock. I said, "Have you seen Lost in the Grooves?" He said, "Oh, yeah. I loved that book. I tore right through it." He said he had e-mailed one of the contributors who had written about an album he really liked.
