Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve. - John Prine

Jon & msbelle, check your email for some excellent news (maybe you've already seen it) which is not mine to announce! Congratulations, Anonymous-for-Now-Buffista!!

Sorry to be cryptic. Don't want to steal so-and-so's thunder.

Angus will like this lineup, I think. The Streets, Dizzee Rascal and Scissor Sisters are all in the top 40.

Well, yeah, bit of it certainly. I also like Kanye's album obviously although there's something a bit predictable about it being No 1.

I'm also enjoying the M.I.A./Diplo mix album "Piracy Funds Terrorism" (especially the title!) -- M.I.A. is a Sri Lankan born MC from London who makes kind of hybrid hip-hop/dancehall/grime; her "proper" album "Arular" is going to be HUGE this year.

NB the singles list is much better, I love about 90% of that.

Uncertainty could be our guiding light.

I'm really intrigued by M.I.A. I downloaded "Galang" to check it out, and didn't quite get it. But "10 Dollar?" Rocks my socks. Need to revisit "Galang" and check out some more.

I'm also enjoying the M.I.A.

I just saw her interviewed recently, and the clips that they played sounded great.

Oh, and I'm watching the Brit Awards. Scissor Sisters have clearly scored some serious drugs.

Ann, that's a ferret.

...not to mention some serious Brits.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Thanks for the Placebo recs. The Radio station has Sleeping with Ghosts, but not Black Market Music, so it'll be either Plasticine or This Picture (they were both good).

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I love "Plasticine" as much as the next bloke, but just to throw my own two cents out there, I would have said "Scared of Girls" or "Brick Shithouse" off Without You I'm Nothing.

Ficht nicht mit Der Raketemensch!

Psst, Angus: where did you get the MIA thing and can I get a copy? I can swap...anything, I guess.
