News for Elvis Costello fans -- He's writing an opera.
My husband and I have long had the theory that he's attempting to record in every genre known to man. I think all he has left at this point is rap and death metal.
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Don't forget Gregorian Chant.
True. Also, I'm not sure he's ever made a samba record.
But he's not 50 yet, so there is still time.

CALYPSO!!!!!
Hey, if Robert Mitchum can do it...
One word:
Zydeco.
interesting label
It's like the companion label to Hec's book.

Definitely the same impulse.
Just got an email from our publisher. It's kind of a good news/bad news situation, though heavier on the good news.

Kim:
I've just FINALLY discovered the reason that copies haven't made it to
all the contributors -- we're sold out!
We have a rush reprint in the works but it will probably be about 3
weeks before books are on hand.
I'm sorry for the delay -- but obviously we wanted to ship store orders
(and paid orders) first.
My apologies to any contributor who didn't get his/her copies on the
first go.
Thanks--
Sincerely,
Richard Carlin

Jeez, I wonder what the original print run was anyway. Like, three dozen? Maybe that's why it's hard to find in the bookstores. On the plus side, it bodes well for doing another book with them.
I told you I was looking to get a couple more for some friends and couldn't get one until next month. I should check and see if I still can (I ended up giving up last time because I wanted them for X-mas).
Cloudbursting - Kate Bush (not Goth. Start to deviate more towards Jilli-land here.)
Mmmm, Kate Bush. When in doubt, always add more Kate Bush.
Bloodletting (The Vampire Song) - Concrete Blonde (I didn't even know there was a video for this. Crumbling mansion etc. Very goth.)
It's a fab video, and I'm oh! so happy that you put it on the tape.
Closer - Nine Inch Nails (not Goth? But...pretty much defining everything around the scene for years to come.)
NIN is industrial-lite, but the videos are always pretty eyecandy. I need to find a copy of the video for "Perfect Drug".
The print-run sold out?! Yowza.
