Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
And the Wal-Mart sales.
"Blue Light special on Hayden's Liner Notes! Aisle 9."
Blue Light Special is K-Mart.

(Though I appreciate the pun on "blue.")
I stand pedanterated.
I stand pedanterated.
Ped is foot, and ante is before or in front of, so you just got kicked in the front? (My delicate nature prevents me from speculating as to where in front.) And you're still standing? Studly!

Balls of brass, young man.
And yes, they go jingle jangle jingle.
I mailed off Hec's mix. And copied it for myself, of course.
CD shopping last night resulted in another album from a band I liked off of Jon's 2003 mix: The Minders Hooray for Tuesday (not their 2003 release, but all I could find) and it is fantabulous.
Yesterday was payday - so it's used CD shopping for me today as well. I feel like I haven't seriously music shopped in a month, even though I am pretty sure I did last weekend...
For those who keep track of such things, there is an interesting Beats' acolyte biography in the NYTimes today. Lemme dig up a link. Here.
One interesting thing about everyone in my office being on OS X now and using iTunes is that everyone is automatically connected to everyone else's Music Libraries. It's like seeing people's closets and drawers. Who knew that the super-dude surfer guy from CA listened to Christina Aguilera? Or that the uber conservative head of the dept. had 8GBs of music on his hard drive? I love it.
And yes, they go jingle jangle jingle
Hey, this is the music thread! Only spurs can go jingle jangle jingle. And only as you go riding merrily along.
Well The Byrds and Kate Bush assert that tamborines go jingle jangle. And Nick Cave had something to say on the subject.
Hey, I have a bootleg of Mr. Langford playing this very Ship & Pilot song on Jon's mix in Austin, but I never knew the name of the song. This version is more kickin', though, what with the drums & fiddle & such.
