Mal: How come you didn't turn on me, Jayne? Jayne: Money wasn't good enough. Mal: What happens when it is? Jayne: Well... that'll be an interesting day.

Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

Msbelle! I saw Rhett tonight. He did that Francoise Hardy song again. His accent has improved, but I thought of you.

Then I ended up taking a cab back to Brooklyn with his old English teacher . But that's another story.

Are you ready to be strong?

Justine Frischman (SP?) hot. That is all.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

Speaking of drinking songs I missed, how about "Drinkin' On The Job" by the Rainmakers?

The farmer he got plowed
The bricklayer got plastered
The mechanic he got tanked
The construction worker got blasted
And Daddy beat up Mommy and broke her collarbone for good luck

Everybody's drunk
Everybody's wasted
Everybody's drinkin' on the job

The garbageman got trashed
The janitor got messy
The taxi driver got smashed
The waitress she got tipsy
In Kansas City, New York City
Great big city, itty-bitty city

Everybody's drunk
Everybody's wasted
Everybody's drinkin' on the job
There's a whole lot of places that I ain't been
A whole lotta things that I ain't seen
A whole lotta things I'll never be
The generation that would change the world
Is still looking for it's car keys

The terorist got bombed
The President got hit
Security was tight
The Secret Service got lit
F.B.I.
C.I.A.
D.W.I.
U.S.A.

Everybody's drunk
Everybody's wasted
Everybody's stoned
And there's nothing that's gonna change it
'Cause everybody's drunk
Everybody's wasted
Everybody's drinkin' on the job

Speaking of Suede, Brett Anderson and Bernard Butler are talking again, and working on a new album together. Out in the spring, apparently.

Ficht nicht mit Der Raketemensch!

Under teh name The Tears, IIRC. Much as I loved Elastica, Echobelly beat them in terms of foxy androgyne singers:

Blur are perhaps the most girlfriend-influenced band in rock; not only did Justine introduced Damon to the Kinks and Martin Amis (and if Parklife-era blur isn't the Kinks+Martin Amis then what is it?) but their shift towards us-style indie happened when graham started dating one of Huggy Bear.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Justine Frischman (SP?) hot. That is all.

Seconded.

I have the self-titled Elastica CD. It's fun.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Michele!! That's awesome. I can't believed I missed him doing Francoise, darn me and my non-going out ways. Maybe I'll catch him later this year.

Anyone get any new CDs recently on the exchange? friendly reminder to get any you have in the mail by this weekend if you can.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Justine Frischman (SP?) hot. That is all.

Two Ns on Frischmann.

Echobelly beat them in terms of foxy androgyne singers:

Yum!

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

The major labels are increasingly acknowledging the value of the entrepreneurial spirit -- witness Warner Music Group's recently inaugurated "incubator" entities and Universal Music Group's new indie distributor Fontana.

That spirit is the bread and butter of the DIY Convention

So their bread and butter is fake indies? Great....
