Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Ficht nicht mit Der Raketemensch!

The pigwanking was, to use an unfortunate phrase, a storm in a teacup.

Scientifically proven to be the best Christmas music ever

At the risk of sounding like the Flat Earth Society's music critic: nuh uh! This is the best Christmas music ever. (Okay, maybe not, but it is better than the stuff with the QED stamp.)

The pigwanking was, to use an unfortunate phrase, a storm in a teacup.

Are you sure that's not, "The pigwanking, to use an unfortunate phrase, was a storm in a teacup"?

ETA: Sllloooowwww downloads today from the Hound, but it really is a great tune so be patient.

A fellow makes himself conspicuous when he throws soft-boiled eggs at the electric fan.

A friend (Joe Boucher will probably guess who) has given me an enormous amount of music from a band called Accordion Tribe.

Adding at least 50% more accordion to my day has been a huge improvement. Highly recommended.

What's the RDA for accordion music, anyway?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Just got back from final shopping for Emmett's god-family. They all got music and one other thing.

Pater: Lavagulin and The Pogues If I Should Fall From Grace With God and Oscar Peterson's tribute to Sinatra.

Mater: new Madeleine Peyroux and P.G. Wodehouse's Summer Lightning (in a nice new hardbound edition).

Daughter #1 (16): Futurama S4 and the K-Tel Indie Rock collection (which is stellar, incidentally).

Daughter #2 (10): the new Gwen Stefani (special edition with Gwen-designed CD case) and a fantasy novel set in Venice, Italy (City of Masks?).

Can you tell I love them a lot?

Uncertainty could be our guiding light.

For Christmas I got the latest Kings of Convenience CD from my guy, who was intrigued by the "staff pick" blurb at the local music shop. I'm sorry to say it's dreadfully boring. It reminds me too much of Belle and Sebastian, who I definitely do not like, and the songs all sound the same. Bummer.

But he also got me the Live Aid DVDs, and it's really fun to watch so far. Is it just me, or is Ultravox's "Vienna" a really frickin' awesome song? What a voice on that Midge guy.

Nik Kershaw's on now, singing an old favorite of mine, "Wouldn't It Be Good." I was in a bar a few summers ago, and asked the bartender what CD he was playing, because it was really good. Turned out to be a recent (at the time) Nik Kershaw album. Sorry I didn't jot down the name, because I'd like to have that. Had no idea he'd done anything since his one hit in the '80s.
