Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Hmmm, did I post my Swingtime Santa mix?

Good stuff. I had this playing nonstop in my car until I got the Garden State soundtrack.

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

O'Connor has a gorgeous, gorgeous voice. If you have the Bloodshot 5th anniversary comp, you've heard her -- she covers Tom Waits's "Looks Like I'm Up Shit Creek Again" on it. Also, she sang with the Blacks, who I never liked, but on the other hand, that's her doing justice to "Poor Old Heartsick Me" on the Knitters tribute CD too.

She performs sometimes with Kelly Hogan, and is closest to her in style of the Bloodshot group, I think, though less of a belter. I heard her, Kelly, and John Wesley Harding perform together in New York in September and they sounded just amazing together.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

she covers Tom Waits's "Looks Like I'm Up Shit Creek Again"

Oh yeah--I remember loving that cover. OK, one more CD goes on the list...

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Yo Hec - this post -- DavidS "Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan" Dec 20, 2004 11:30:11 am PST -- is causing some serious right scrollage on my browser. Would you mind fixing?

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

have any of you heard Frou Frou's album, Details? it quickly became one of my favorite albums ever.

Another artist I've picked up this year who I've really grown to love.

I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve. - John Prine

From the Minearverse thread:

I am totally stoned on cold medicine! -- Allyson

This would be a good name for a rock band. -- Narrator

Lester Bangs is smiling at this. In part because Romilar is free in heaven. Hell, too, but I think the big guy's in heaven.
