Well, a gathering is brie, mellow song stylings; shindig, dip, less mellow song stylings, perhaps a large amount of malt beverage, and hootenanny, well, it's chock full of hoot, just a little bit of nanny.

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

I'm a very lazy editor, for what it's worth. And I can never remember which words end in -ance and which ones end in -ence.

On edit, but with Tina and Erin, I'm sure you're talking about real editors, and not me.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

How do you meet someone who has meant so much to you? How do you say hello to God? I don't know. I just went home. But that was enough. Oh thank you David Bowie. Thank you.

Yes, this. David Bowie is possibly the only person who, if I got to meet them, would reduce me to stammering incoherence.

Dude. You edit a magazine. I edit dog food coupons. One having a business card with a title on it does not always make it so.

If the Pixies do play the ACL fest and don't come any closer to KC - I just might go. Overcrowding and lack of toilets be damned!

Really going home now (why does everyone always start posting when I'm ready to go home. whine whine).

I lied about going home.

My best friend that I mentioned earlier felt the exact same way. Her life is spent in daily worship of Bowie. Then she met him - twice. The first time they talked about Dadaism. No shit. The second time what the internet has done to advance art. And how much they both love Beck. Both times she said that he was just so normal and sweet and a good listener that seemed interested in what she had to say that she only felt like passing out for a second or two.

Now to home.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Sometimes I wish I had never mentioned that I was a copy editor here.

Oops, okay, that's four other editors then I think in this exchange: erinaceous, Steph, tina and Hayden. And I know we've got others loose on the board.

Some of us just pretend to be editors so we can be employed.

I was very humble and approaching-the-godhood when I talked to DJ Bonebrake of X. Ditto shaking hands with Jack Kirby.

Dammit! This is the danger of naming names. Five. But there can be no more than five because that's not even possible. t /inviting disaster

Also, I met Lynda Barry and gushed, and I adore her and think she's the bee knees. Tom Waits would also make me inarticulate.

Ooh, yes.

Hey, I freely admit I'm not really an editor. I've just tricked the Evil Empire into thinking I'm one.

I prefer to think of you as a writer. A writer who owes me a list of NonGoth Records That Goths Listen To.
