Hecubus! WHEN is the Quimby's event?!
RIO! It's Saturday, December 4th. I'll be in Chicago that Thurs-Sat.
Lunch must happen! In no small part because I have a gift for your Chrismakkuh tree, and am making you a Chrismakkuh mix. (With songs like "A Lonely Jew on Christmas" and Jon Stewart's Christmas message, mocking every kid's xmas special ever, and Johnny Cash encouraging homicide. For Christmas. "You know it's not cool to kill for Christmas. But if you must...")
Terry Melcher died.
ETA: David, here's my contribution to Xmakkuh mix:

Oh, hey. I've made five separate mixes of holiday music, mostly non traditional stuff, if anyone wants copies of any of them. Alternately, I can post the track listings and you can see if you want, like, an individual song. With the beauty of yousendit and all.
Getting CDs to Australia is still a big issue. One option at this point might be for everyone on the list to duplicate their CD and send it directly to Angus. Would that work for everyone?
I'd be willing to send my CD to Angus. I'd offer to send all the ones I have so far (seven or eight, I think), but I fear it would cost more to reburn and send them than I can reasonably spend right now (car accident + Christmas season = no money for me).
That's the beauty of everyone sending their own, spread the cost around.
and thanks - I'll post something next week about if it'll be necessary.
Just thought I'd mention that if you put the disks in paper sleeves, you can send about 10 CDs via airmail to Oz for around 5 bucks.
David Ehrenstein has been sending me DVDs in paper sleeves and that's all he pays.
Thanks for the info!
I'll also mention that to mail one CD in a jewel case and a few sheets of paper within the US costs between $1.52 and $1.75 and to mail two in jewel cases with notes will usually cost $2.44.
If you have stamps on hand, you can mail them from any mailbox without a trip to the PO.
If you're not done with poker songs, may I suggest Willie Nelson singing "Ten with a Two"?
The title song from Alan Parsons Project's "Turn of a Friendly Card". God, I loved that album.
And they think it will make their lives easier
And God knows up till now it's been hard
But the game never ends
When your whole world depends
On the turn of a friendly card.
Oh hey! Concrete Blonde "100 Games of Solitare"
