I always thought the name Serenity had a vaguely funereal sound to it.

Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

A fellow makes himself conspicuous when he throws soft-boiled eggs at the electric fan.

OMG, it's like Hec and Jilli said "What band would be the perfect merging of our musical tastes?"

The Gothees.

I hope they're good, b/c I'm downloading their spacelounge version of "Pretty in Pink" right now.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The band features Waldo P. Emerson Gothee Jones III on vocals & theremin;

Heh. That's an Archies joke here. I think Stephin Merritt will take this as a challenge.

Record Store Report

Playing right now? The Boo Radley's Giant Steps which is, as Jim said, a brilliant guitar pop record. Got it for $5.99, and it looks like it might be OOP. But yay me for scoring the excellent music for low cost.

I opted for The Best of The Church on Buddha (huh?), and glad I did. It has a fair bit from their earlier records when they were rougher and sound somewhere between Duneidin and Lloyd Cole.

Got Isn't Anything which I am just exploring. I am happy to report it is Nice Price-d at a very affordable $8.99.

Spring Hill Fair by The Go Betweens. This is the two-CD reissue.

Labyrinth by Dead Can Dance.

"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

Better than Ezra are better live than I could ever have imagined. Any show during which they bust out in verses of Supertramp, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, and Blue Oyster Cult in the middle of songs is a show worth seeing.

I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve. - John Prine

Big Baby Jesus died for your sins.

Okay, maybe not.

Congratulations, erinaceous! She's the new Bill Safire (linguistically, not politically) -- at least for this week's Times Magazine.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OK, this is completely random (well, not to me), but does anyone have any ideas where I could get my hands on a karaoke recording of "What Would Brian Boitano Do?"?

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Jesse a quick search has given me nothing. My guess is taht you would have to put a regualr South Park CD into a karaoke machine that removes the vocals.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, I tried googling what I could think of. The song is generally weirdly unavailable online. Ah well.
