Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

"Ohmigod, I'm soooo drunk!"

Ah, the mating call of the dumb sorority girl....

Uncertainty could be our guiding light.

All this talk of shoegazer bands takes me back to college. I really liked the Lush album, and Ride got a lot of airplay on our teeny radio station.

The other Catherine Wheel songs I recall (and really like) are "I Want to Touch You," and "Judy Staring at the Sun," which was on a later album, and featured Tanya Donnelly on backup vocals.

"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

And on a completely different topic ... I was looking at a random magazine in line in the drugstore today, and it had a picture of Mary-Kate Olson CD shopping with a caption about her music tastes. It said she likes "diverse music-- Counting Crows, Rolling Stones, and the Dave Matthews Band."

Anyone wanna explain what's diverse about that list? It all looks like pretty MOR rock to me.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Young guys and geezers?

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

La la la, I'm seeing Voltaire tonight!

I hope you know that you are a bitch. IJS.

Hee!

The show was very good. He even included a shout-out to my favorite Seattle DJ when singing "When You're Evil": "And no one loves you when you're ... DJ Eternal Darkness! Which is untrue, because the man is *lucious*."

(Since I was in the DJ booth standing right next to DJ Eternal Darkness, I got to watch him get all giddy and flustered. It was cute.)

The merchandise booth was selling Voltaire's new book, What Is Goth?. It's a very funny, affectionate look at the Goth scene. I *highly* recommend it.
