Ah, Dismemberment Plan! And that is actually a mix cd formula that I've never seen before. How rare and exciting.
I LOVELOVELOVE the Plan. (Did you ever see them live? The CDs are good, but their live shows were astounding.)

Possibly. The only Alannah Myles song I know is "Bad 4 You," which is all right. A friend put it on a mix CD. But my knowledge of music can often be termed "woefully ignorant," so...

MuchMusic up here (our MTV) is terribly snarky about Alannah Myles, but I think (hope) that's a familiarity breeds contempt kinda thing, since she got a ton of airplay back in the Black Velvet days (as CanCon).
I particularly remember a full claws and ears remark that went something like "I'm sure there are still men in prison that find Alannah Myles attractive", so there are pluses and minuses to coming from a smaller market.

1) I had no idea that song was about Elvis. Though I admit the only words I can ever quite understand are "new religion" and what sounds like "blackbird" but is probably "black velvet."
2) I'm a philistine in my dislike of "Black Velvet." Mostly it's b/c I don't like her voice. I tend to not like women singers with that kind of almost-raspy voice, though (like Heart), so it's a whole group that I'm slandering, not just Alannah Myles.
