We have to see the chimp playing hockey! That's hilarious! The ice is so slippery, and, and monkeys are all irrational. We have to see this!

love's a dream you enter though I shake and shake and shake you

Now I'm poking my head in to report that my housemate brought home a promo copy of the new Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds album tonight, and it's so godawful that I'll probably never listen to it again.

I'm so depressed. And not in the good way I usually am after listening to Nick Cave.

Secret message to Jon: It's OK that you're so lame. No rush.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So to recap...

Tom Waits, still great.

Nick Cave, sucking like a Minnesota hooker.

Okay, now but did everybody know that the songs on The Boatman's Call were about PJ Harvey?

Also, in solidarity with my gothesque friends, I taped videos off my TiVoed eps of The Alternative tonight. The superlush visuals of Dead Can Dance's "The Carnival's Over" (or some such title) and Siouxsie's video for "The Passenger." (Okay, admittedly, I had ulterior motives on that particular video.)

Lurching from one disaster to the next.

Nick Cave, sucking like a Minnesota hooker.

If the album's as bad as Jen claims, you do realise the Minnesota Hookers Association will take umbrage at that remark?

They charge extra for taking it up the umbrage.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

sucking like a Minnesota hooker.

What, did his tongue freeze to the mic?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

They charge extra for taking it up the umbrage.

I'd COMM that, but maybe it's too naughty....

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I'd COMM that, but maybe it's too naughty....

Let's find out!

If I only had a brain...

So. Deb hooked me on Barenaked Ladies, whom I hadn't heard before. I now have Everything to Everyone, and it's on rapid repeat. What I especially love about BnL is the witty, sardonic lyrics, the tight harmonies, and the insanely catchy tunes.

What's the second BnL album I should buy?
