Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I saw REM at MIT!

yep.

Did you see them the previous year when Husker Du opened for them? Yeah, at the Harvard Field House.

Nope. At the Rat.

Did you see The Hoodoo Gurus at The Channel?

Yep. Big hair, and all.

Punishingly Intricate

The only REM show I went to in Boston was at kind of a nice old theater near Downtown...fuzzy on Boston geography now...I saw them a couple of times at the Tower theater in Philadelphia when I was in high school though.

Saw Ian MacKaye and Henry Rollins do a spoken word thing (aka them reminiscing about working at an ice cream shop together when they were teenagers) at the Rat. It was right after Henry cut all his hair off and Ian had HUGE hair.

Probably the Orpheum. That would have been later.

Yes the Orpheum I think. Would have been around 86-87.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I'm happy to report that the Pixies are still rocking it. Kimmy has an adorable new short haircut. They played tons o' songs (including Hey - one of my all-time fave songs ever). I'm also old and saw them back in 90 or 91. I'd love to see them in a smaller venue again...

Next show: Guided by Voices at the Henry Fonda.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Next show: Guided by Voices at the Henry Fonda.

Of Montreal at the Blind Pig on Sunday, Visqueen at the same venue on Tuesday.

I can't even.

Tegan and Sara are playing here in a small venue on Monday night. Tickets were way sold out before I got wind of the show, and none of the online scalpers seem to be selling tickets to their show.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Boston concerts-- anybody see Lone Justice at the Paradise? Or the Nails ("88 Lines About 44 Women" ring a bell for anyone?) Or Timbuk 3?Elvis Costello at the Beacon? Or (and you are all way too young for this) the Go-Gos opening for the Police at the Garden?

Huh. I think I saw thought. I definitely saw The Bangles there.

Or (and you are all way too young for this) the Go-Gos opening for the Police at the Garden?

I saw that tour play in Cleveland.

That's what happens when they play their own country, huh? We didn't have much trouble getting in when we saw them in SF.
