"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

Never seen them myself, but I have friends who have, and they're still talking about it. If I don't get to see them soon, I may have to kill those friends.

Lurching from one disaster to the next.

Oh. My. God.

Shatner sings again!

A sample (1.1MB .wma file ... yes, it is Pulp's "Common People")

Check out the photo of Shatner with Henry Rollins, Ben Folds, and Joe Jackson.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

So I've been rooting through my tape collection and buying CDs of albums that I used to listen to a lot 15-20 years ago but have not listened to recently. Currently I'm grooving on The Best of The Passage and The Glove's Blue Sunshine. The Glove was a side project of Robert Smith of the Cure and Steven Severin of Siouxise and the Banshees. This album doesn't really sound like either of them.

I'm getting all nostalgic for my younger self....

The next concert I'm going to is Rilo Kiley. Has anyone seen them live? How are they?

They were pretty good. I knew NOTHING about them when I saw them and I stood there and paid attention to their whole set. (Usually my attention span she is not so long for a band I don't know)

I think I'm going to be in Hawaii when the Pixies are in DC. That is how I console myself for not getting tickets (I'm sure they're sold out now, right?). I also console myself with the fact that I am old and went to college in Boston in the 80s and saw them at the Rathskeller in Kenmore Square lo' these many years ago. It was one of the best shows I ever saw. It was packed and sweaty and loud and wonderful. I stood with my friend on a milkcrate through their whole set. Kim Deal forgot the words to Gigantic.

Up with the sun

(I'm sure they're sold out now, right?)

They're sold out for the seventh, but I got my tix for the eighth yesterday. Dunno if they're still available, though.

And hawaii is a pretty good consolation prize, as is the Rathskeller.

Usually my attention span she is not so long for a band I don't know

You and me both. I know this makes me a heathen or something, but half an hour is usually my limit for a set where I don't know any of the songs.

Uncertainty could be our guiding light.

The new U2 single has been leaked a day early. It's all willy-nilly all over the internet and radio.

Two Seattle stations just played it within 10 minutes of each other. I heard both and am very gleeful about it.

It's rockin', it's bouncy, it's got a great chorus, it's more of an old-school U2 sound, it's ... it's .... squee!

Heh! Too funny. I'm guessing we were probably at many of the same shows back then.
