Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

Ah, it IS the Big Easy. Maybe I mixed up the dates on the Decemberists and Rachael Yamagata.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Lilty, I'm also a big Decembrists fan. Probably my fav band of the last five years.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Eh. Pearl Street's not my favorite venue, although I hear it's better now that they don't allow smoking in the ballroom anymore. And for $15, I'd probably rather just buy the CD. t /loser

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Though if the bar is the Big Easy, the show is October 15, not September.

Oooh, a Friday night. I might be able to make it up for that. I had planned on taking that Friday off anyway. Hmmm. ponders

Really, David? Talk me into going to the show.

Are they going to be the type of band where I'd need to get tickets ahead of time? Keeping in mind it's Portland, ME.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Really, David? Talk me into going to the show.

Kate, you didn't buy a book cause you wanted to buy more CDs. And then you didn't buy any more CDs. Thus, you can afford this concert.

Well, at the Big Easy you just pay a cover rather than tickets- at least that's the usual deal. It's not a Big Venue- more a normal (if you're in Maine) sized bar with a little stage. I've been for a few groups, all local.

You make a convincing argument, except for the fact that I spent WAY more than I wanted to on parking and transportation this weekend, so I'm not feeling exactly flush with extra cash.

I wasn't sure it was still that way, especially for a more national act. I know that's how it was at the old location (hell, most of the time there wasn't even a cover), but I haven't been there since they moved.
