There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

And her ideal man is David Attenborough!

For some reason, I read that as David Lynch, and my head damn near 'sploded.

So 'splodey, in fact, that I posted twice.

Last night was the second day of North vs. South in Lawrence. A "hard-pop music festival" highlighting bands from Austin and Minneapolis. I got to see a very animated Ol Yeller (Minn.) play for a crowd of a decent size (I've seen them several times in front of five people and they deserve a lot more than that) and very fun set from Grand Champeen from Austin that ended with an all bar sing along of "Can't Hardly Wait." Good times.

I recommend both bands to Austin and Minneapolis-istas who have not seen them yet.

Tonight's Grant Hart from Husker Du. Yay.

For the record, The Streets album did not make me cry but I do like it.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

I just got a burn of the Streets album last night and haven't listened to it yet.

I like ol' Grand Champeen, Tina. Glad you enjoyed them.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Anyone know if The Wallets Take It has ever been released on CD? I can find used LPs but that's about it.

(The Wallets were a mid '80s Minneapolis band. They were on Twin Tone.)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

tommy, check out the Twintones website. They do have two Wallets CDs - the rest are vinyl or cassette only.

The ones on CD are 17 Songs and Body Talk.

Take It is LP only.

Ooh, thanks Hec. I didn't know Twin/Tone was still around. They can "custom burn" a CD of Take It for me.

Wow, that album sold less than 10,000 on both album and cassette. They were fairly popular in Mpls and they did play Madison at least several times....

From Twin/Tone's site:

Today the label is in "moth balls," finding the traditional physical CD market very unfriendly to indie labels, we wait for the alternative that digital delivery promises (hopefuly sooner than later).

...

As of May 2004, we are still in the process of updating all the project pages. Removing the Liquid Audio links and replacing them with MP3 sample links. We are converting all the master tapes to digital format and will offer all the out of print titles via "Custom Burned CD's". Check back later this summer for DVDs and other jems from the vault...

In'eresting....

eta: In case folks don't know, Twin/Tone was the indie label that first signed such bands as The Replacements and Soul Asylum.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Burn-to-order is definitely going to help these small indie labels with a back catalog. You can pretty much run it out of your second bedroom again without having to store a ton of stock and supplies.

Uncertainty could be our guiding light.

Have we reached another bottleneck in the Buffista Mix CD Train?

Who's got the plunger?

It's been about three months since I've gotten anything.
