CNN has an interview with Robert Smith.
Apropos of that, I have read two interviews with Mr. Smith in the last week.
In the one with American indie rag, Filter, he sounds all tortured-artisty,the child grown old, all that rot. (It's a REALLY dreadful interview -- the writing is incredibly melodramatic, and it's clear the author waas trying really hard to be Appropriately Goth. Ugh.)
In the one with the British magazine, Q?
He talks about weeding and football.
He was always completely down-to-earth in interviews. He's just a bloke who married his childhood sweetheart and plays football a bit. The rest has been an act since at least 1989. It's always been one of the charming things about Smith (cf New Order).
I didn't know that Dave Davies had a stroke.

I didn't, either. Apparently, they were telling people it was exhaustion up until a few days ago.

Also, he's a big old comics geek. And I'm pretty sure he called the South Park guys about being on the show, not the other way around.
Hey! Pylon are reuniting!
Right on! I saw them on their last reunion tour (sometime in the 80s) and they were amazing live.
Cramps for Halloween in SF? I'm taking Emmett. I'll have to get him hopped up on candy that night so he can stay awake for the show.
Get well, Dave Davies. (A charter member of my redundantly-named all-star band. Along with Johnny Johnson, Benny Benjamin, James Jamerson and Sylvain Sylvain.)
I saw them on that tour too!
Hec, would they only play redundantly-named songs? Like "Hot Hot Hot", "Please Please Me" and "Begin the Beguine"? (I know that last one is a stretch)
You know, that's a magazine article right there, hint hint.
How about Lisa Lisa (of Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam) and Marky Mark?
They could also play Sugar, Sugar and Ashes to Ashes.

And the entire playlist of Talk Talk and Wet Wet Wet. And finish up with I Do I Do I Do I Do I Do.
