Gunn: Well, how horrible is this thing? Lorne: I haven't read the Book of Revelations lately, but if I was searching for adjectives, I'd probably start there.

Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Are you ready to be strong?

A fellow makes himself conspicuous when he throws soft-boiled eggs at the electric fan.

And the Riobot gets it in one! With an Amen from Angus.

Tommyrot, I think your friend meant "bathos." It's easy to get them mixed up.

I need a song ID. The group is "Bowling for Soup." The song is something about "Back in 1985" and is about being stuck in the 80s. Help?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Bowling For Soup has a website. (it's uh...bowlingforsoup.com) Looks like the song is called "1985" - they have the video on their site.

Thanks Hec. And that explains why I haven't been able to buy the song - not yet released.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

How about a little good news?

Ganked from SFGate:

Sept. 14:
Sally Timms, In the World of Him (Touch & Go). The longtime Mekons vocalist (the Dusty Springfield of political country punk) finally follows up her dreamy 1999 release Cowboy Sally's Twilight Laments for Lost Buckaroos.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Sally Timms, In the World of Him (Touch & Go).

Hey, cool!

And in other news that may be interesting only to me, Tracy Grammer recently released a new album, The Verdant Mile. Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer were an amazing duo on the folk scene and among my favorite musical acts ever. They were heading towards national prominence until Dave Carter died of a heart attack (at age 49--speaking of dying too young) two years ago. This is the first solo album Tracy has released. It doesn't have any of Dave's songs on it, but she's working on another album, to be released next year, with all of his songs that they had not yet recorded when he died.
