The Sloan/Jet tour?
Almost as cool as Clinton/Gwar.
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Yeah, but is it as cool as Jimi Hendrix/The Monkees?
I've heard two Jet singles. One steals the riff from "Lust for Life" and the other is an AC/DC retread.
I know people like them, though. I'm just not a fan of the classic-rock-in-a-blender approach, unless it's Oasis.

This? Still not as cool as Jimi Hendrix and actual monkeys.
Nothing could be as cool as actual monkeys. That goes without saying.
(Monkey monkey monkey!)
Jimi Hendrix/The Monkees
That show must have had the Weirdest. Vibe. Evah!
I imagine the bizare mix of energy resulted in everyone's hair standing straight up. And carbonated beverages all going flat.

Hey, I've heard a commercial with that & wondered who had the audacity.
On the box right now: Sly & The Family Stone - There's a Riot Goin' On.
Incidentally, here is my new rare glam CD burn. This isn't my greatest hits of Glam, but my favorite stuff that's been reissued in the last year with the whole Junkshop Glam movement. It's all pretty choice.
Glamourdolls
Third Floor Heaven – Bebop Deluxe (their first album is very BowieGlam. Then they got Prog. Then they went new wave)
Va Va Va Voom – Brett Smiley
Roxy Roller – Sweeney Todd (Canadian Glam! With Nick Gilder)
Another School Day – Hello (same band that did original "New York Groove"
Butch Things – Billy Hamon (pretty late for glam but such a cool song. It's exactly what it advertises)
Do You Like Boys - Starbuck (sung by a man)
Painted Lady – Anthony Bygraves (very T.Rex)
Rub My Tummy – Zenda Jacks
King Capp –Jook (famous mostly for being included in the original Bomp issue about Power Pop. Has members of John's Children)
Do That – Barry Ryan
She Knew Him Too – Capt. Skidlid (sounds like David Essex' "Rock On" - sort of)
Bungalow Love – Rik Kenton (Cool song. Bizarre title. Rik worked with Roxy Music, I think)
Turtle Dove – The Rats (Great song! Very Sweet influenced)
Getting a Drag – Lynsey Depaul (she's bitching about her boyfriend using all her makeup)
Toughen Up – Arrows (same band that did the original "I Love Rock and Roll" - covered by Joan Jett)
Nothing To Do With Us – Jet (a 70s band, unrelated to the one I'm seeing tonight)
The Rock Roller Coaster - Buzz
Rave N Rock – Daddy Maxfield
Ride a Black Sheep – Small Wonder (T. Rex pastich. Rips off "Hot Love")
Interplanetary Twist – Screemer (take off on "Ballroom Blitz")
Another Saturday Morning – Washington Flyers
Attack Attack – Yellow Bird
Kick Your Boots Off – Sisters (big glam stomper)
The Comets Are Coming – Washington Flyers (Space Oddity influence, obviously)
The Flying Saucers Have Landed – Paul St. John (more proto Space glam)
What do a girl hafta do to get a copy a that?
Who was wondering about "Of Montreal"? I downloaded one of their earlier albums off Emusic and was deeply, deeply disappointed, considering how good "Disconnect the Dots" was. They were, I hate to say it, twee. Ugh.
Hey erinaceous--
Stuff has been sent to you. I'm guessing you'll get it today or tomorrow....
