the use of "Come Sail Away" in Freaks & Geeks -- how it seems like a slow song but suddenly rawks in a pretty annoying way.
It's really well-chosen for that scene because (memfault) has just gotten up the courage to ask Cindy to dance, and just as they start the music gets fast and he freezes, and she beckons him to dance anyhow, and it's just incredibly sweet and made me smile and become slightly teary.
if I can swing it, Open Arms will be some cheesy ass dance at my wedding. Awww yeah. Maybe I can get the DJ to announce, "couple dance, couples dance only, ladies choice"

IIRC, Sam tries to work up his nerve to ask the cute chick to dance. He waits for a slow song. He delays and delays until the Styx song comes on at which point he delays some more. He finally asks and she says yes. They've been dancing for about ten seconds when the song breaks into its fast section. I wonder if the DJ was using the limited edition yellow-vinyl copy of Grand Illusion.
Well, maybe if those others were Styx, but still....
As far as I can tell, Neil thinks that the only appropriate response is to fly Mother Nature's silver seed to a new home in the sun.
And yeah, LJ & JB are right about the F&G dance -- the song is perfect for the moment 'cause the point was to embarrass Sam. But not so perfect from Sam's POV.
There seems to be a tesseract in the thread. Let's see if we can get Gandalfe's post back to its proper time and place.
Thanks, Hayden. Check your email in a few minutes for a Firesign story.
No, there's not.
That was my little way of saying that the link was broken. But it's better, now, even tho there was no fixing. Weird.
