Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Ha, I was very tempted to include tATu's cover of "How Soon is Now" as my wildcard; glad to see it made it on to someone's list! It is indeed very good.

CD sent out today...

Nice mix, Tommyrot. Most of those are songs I considered or could see myself considering for the cd.

hayden - I am going to see Will Sheff of Okkervill River this eve - he is playing with a great local artist, Danny Pound, for $2 tonight! Anyway, I thought of you since they were on your mix.

ION, I just switched my Mac to system 10 and therefore upgraded from iTunes 1.1 to like 4.2 or something. I might as well be in a world without shrimp. Down is up, up is down and everyone is speaking Japanese. I hate change.

edit: see! why wasn't there a break in this post? I'm on a new browser, too. grrr.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

OS X rocks like a rocking thing that has a rocking OS. Although I've never owned a Mac before so I didn't need to unlearn Mac pre-OS X weirdness.

iTunes is by far the best, um, integrated computer music thingie. Or something. Especially if you have an iPod.

Oh, and thanks Hayden for the compliment on my mix... it was challenging to find songs that fit.

Tina: excellent! He's a great songwriter. Hope you enjoy it! The only show I'm looking forward to is the Fiery Furnaces next weekend. Oh, and SXSW, of course (lessee, Mission of Burma, the Mekons, The Decemberists, Calexico, Ted Leo, The New Year, the American Music Club, maybe the Pee Wee Fist -- I guess that'll be ok).

I think you did a great job. Looking forward to hearing it.

big taunter.

I have been using Macs since I was about 7 yrs old and never before have I wanted to switch to something else. I f*cking hate this!! It looks stupid, it's all counter-intuitive. I had to switch browsers TWICE to edit my last post!! I have to rebuild my iTunes, importing my bookmarks got all screwed up, I can't change the stupid font on my desktop views.....I HATE CHANGE.

But I'm glad you like it! Sorry-I'm just frustrated. I'll get used to it eventually. I just have to keep telling myself I can finally buy stuff from the iTunes store and that alone will be worth it....

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

maybe the Pee Wee Fist

Just bought our plane tickets last night! Looks like it'll just be Pete and me, and maybe Jimmy Ryan (who's on the same saturday night bill as us) helping out a bit. It was down to the wire. Pete had some concerns and was waiting to hear back from the SXSW guy before he committed. He finally heard back yesterday. And he left this morning with Clem Snide for a 5 week European tour.

Fiery Furnaces are an odd band. I saw them here a few months ago. I didn't even know the singer was a woman until I saw them. She has a deep voice and a 70's hairdo that's part Charlie's Angels and part hat-head.

Another thumbs-up for tommyrot's mix.
