74 posts mostly about the 'Mats. I saw 'em in Boston at the Channel (where I also saw - at different times - The Hoodoo Gurus and Los Lobos). Bob played naked. I was kind of hoping for the nurse's outfit.
Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
A great greeking resource. Explains where the text comes from and everything.
I am half-convinced that the legend over the entrance to Dr Octavius's lab in Spidey 2 reads "Lorem Te Ipsum" -- I may just have been working too hard, though.
I'm peeved at the new allmusic.com site.
Pages late on a New Pornographers comment: I like the songs, they're right up my alley, but it sounds really loud and noisy to me. Like they're all crowded around one mic and playing with their amps up to 11, and Neko Case is being all yelly. Seriously, I want her to stop singing so loud.
The songs are good, but ... and I age 20 years as I type this ... but it's just too loud!

Ha Ha. Guy Lombardo for you, Gramma. Here, I've got a Zamfir 8-track around here.
Memo to allmusic - petulant whining is not the way to preserve a reputation, especially a reputation among music geeks.

Ooooh, you play rough. Give them Harry James. Or at least Sammy Kaye.
The allmusic apology is kind of ridiculous in that they don't answer the question "then why did you change it?" On the other hand, Bob & I were trying to figure out Love & Rockets's biggest hits last night, and the charts feature (which is new, AFAIK) was pretty keen. And I like the tabbing, too.
One of the posters on a elist I'm on says that Arthur Kane of the New York Dolls has died. I have no other information.

pouts
We're down to David Jo and Syl. Lordy, the Dolls lived harder than the Stones, Faces and 'Mats combined. Though for mortality rate in their prime, I must concede to The Pretenders and Badfinger.
Awaiting confirmation of the Arthur Kane news. Damn.
On the Fiery Furnaces Front, another glowing review -- this one from Pitchfork.
