I've only seen them one, when they were sober. But they were notoreous for getting wasted and playing whatever crap covers they could think of.
Oh yeah, I saw one of those! It was a hell of a lot of fun. But I got some bootlegs from Tina last year that captured the reckless, wasted glory as well as The Shit Hits The Fans, and some of those I could only listen to a couple of times as well.

I've purchased Never Mind the Bollocks twice, on 8-track and CD.
A story concerning Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols. Back in the day, of course, there was a court case in the UK seeking to prevent its release on grounds of indecent language (i.e. 'bollocks'). The Sex Pistols' lawyer was the human rights advocate, and expatriate Aussie, Geoffrey Robertson. He argued before the courts, successfully as it turned out, that 'bollocks' was a perfectly acceptable English term of considerable history. In fact, he pointed out, it was the favoured term for testicles in English translations of the Bible, until the King James Version, when they opted to use 'stones' instead.
Geoffrey Robertson recounts, "At this point, Mr Rotten leaned over to me and told me not to worry if they didn't win the case, as they would simply rename the album 'Never Mind the Stones, Here's The Sex Pistols'."

This is so true. They'd been playing that version live for YEARS - imagine my disappointment when I first played Pleased to Meet Me.

I must be younger than y'all. The one on Pleased To Meet Me was the first one I heard. I like the other one, too, but I didn't hear it for another couple of years. They didn't even play it when I saw them in '87 (so, to be clear, I never saw Bob Stinson play -- Slim was sitting in at that point, but he wasn't officially in the band yet), but they were drunk as hell and playing wacky covers.
