We can come by between classes. Usually I use that time to copy over my class notes with a system of different colored pens. But it's been pointed out to me that that's, you know...insane.

Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I'm pretty sure "Wrath of Shaka Khan" was an MST3K line. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Apparently if you're enough of a power nerd, there is nothing that cannot be flowcharted.

Am listening to own mix. Like muchly. Like so much that pronouns have disappeared.

hip deep in pie

One is current HP digital camera ad that uses Pictures of You by The Cure; not only should songs by The Cure not be used in commercials, but especially songs that are traditionally Goth "I'm going to sit in my darkened room and mope about the break-up" heartbreak songs. Is that the message HP wants associated with its products? Mopey, heartbroken goths?

The Cure's Just Like Heaven is in heavy rotation in the Muzak in the mall beside my work. It's incredibly unsettling every time I hear it.

If Scooby Doo taught me anything, it's that the only thing to fear is real-estate developers.Lisa Simpson

Hi. I might come in now that I'm not 12-CD gal anymore...I like that title, btw.Even though I know serious people have 500.(/High Fidelity) I may never afford to be a serious person, though.

Are you ready to be strong?

What was the first title?

P.M. Marc - Jan 22, 2004 9:14:15 pm PST #44 of 10003
So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Gronk.

My mix should be in the mail soon.

Anyone else having trouble being witty with liner notes?

I love the Chaka Khan title! Aka THE REVENGE OF DISCO!

By the way, re the Dido conversation in the last thread, two fun Dido facts:

(1) Eminem first heard "Thank You" (which he sampled for "Stan") on the soundtrack of the film Sliding Doors. Just try to picture Eminem watching Sliding Doors! Do you think he cried when the alt-Gwyneth died at the end?

(2) My sister once had a long chat with Dido at a party...which sounds unimpressive until you realise that this means I am two degrees of separation from Eminem!

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

For posterity, the initial title for this thread was:

Music II: "I'm down with the new music. And I have the albums to prove it."

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

For posterity, the initial title for this thread was:

Thank you. I was actually just wondering that.
