I just skipped some, because I feel the need to comment on a couple of things from days ago:
1) Fergie from Black Eyed Peas was apparently on some kids' show back in the day, but I forget which.
2) I was a senior in college (1994/5) before I learned that the Beastie Boys's "Crafty" opens with a sample. Which is, IIRC, Led Zepplin's "Whole Lotta Love." I had literally never heard the song before.
3) I think there was a third thing, but now I forget. Ah well.

Did it have to do with the Gap Band and the Mary Jane Girls?
No it did not! Is that what I skipped?

I was talking about watching VH-1 Classic the other day and wishing you and Kat Perez were around with me. Consecutive videos by: Expose - Point of No Return; The Jets - Rocket 2U; The Gap Band - Party Train (great song, great yet ubercheezy video); Mary Jane Girls - Boys.
I remember seeing "Songs for Drella" as a work-in-progress at St. Anne's in Brooklyn. Although it was cool seeing Lou & John play together, I wasn't too impressed save for one rockin' song that John played viola on -- I think it was "Work". Even that one sounded lame on the CD.
My favorit song on Drella is "Smalltown." Maybe because I grew up in a small town (OK, on a farm near a small town). Plus I like the syncopation.
My other faves are "Work" and "A Dream."
Today I purchased Tom Verlain's Flashlight and Talking Heads' Naked. I used to own Flashlight on CD, but sold it years ago. I decided I wanted it back.
I was losing interest in Talking Heads when Naked came out, so I've never owned it. But there are a few songs on it I like.
Also, when the fuck are they gonna release The Name of This Band is Talking Heads (a live album) on CD?
Correction: I'm listening to the CD right now, and the song I was thinking of is "Images", not "Work". Cale's crazy viola is nice, but Reed's up front vocals distract.
Nitpick: "Arts at St. Ann's," not "St. Anne's."

edit: Plus a shitload of extra tracks not on the original release....
