He showed up on stage during one of the Zooropa London concerts -- Bono as MacPhisto placed one of his mid-concert phone calls to him, and he popped on stage.
Bill Flanagan, however, did get to spend the entire tour with the band, and wrote a huge book called U2 at the End of the World. It's a must read for any big U2 fan, and is often hi-larious.

I am obsessive about quality, so I plan to rip the songs for my comp as uncompressed .wav files.
Replace .wav with AIFF and Jon is me - at least we are quality-obssessed procrastinators.
Also - listeners to of Jon's 2003 mix - I just listened to my first full-length Chris Brokaw album, Red Cities. Very good. Despite the total lack of lyrics and obviously then, vocals - which is my favorite part of his song on the mix. It was a surprise for me - I didn't have liner notes so I just kept waiting to hear his voice. But like I said, good nonetheless.
Yeah I just don't know enough about what I am doing right now to probably do this the best quality way.

No one will be able to tell the difference - the only reason I go the longer and more complicated route is because I can and it makes my little OCD-rattled brain feel better.

Whoops! The song on my mix CD was (obviously) not typical of the album, but based on what I knew of your tastes, I figured you'd like it anyway. Shoulda warned you that most of the songs were instrumentals, though.
Dear iTunes,
you are pretty and shiny and very easy to use, but you lack having a song I want and now I must hate you.
love,
msbelle

It says that right in your liner notes: "most pop-sounding song he's ever written" or something like that. And I liked it - a lot, actually. It was just surprising. I just wish I could find his stuff locally - I downloaded this album after amazon cancelled my order because they didn't have it in stock (even though they said they did). Want to actually touch CDs and stare at their covers before I buy them.
Say I have an MP3 of a song at home on my iMac. Is there a way to email it to myself and open it on a PC?

I have never had success with this - they are just too big, but you could try.
I know these were my own damn categories, but as I was not planning on participating can I just say that #3 (song from first album you purchased) is just painful.
and now I go home.
