It's my estimation that... every man ever got a statue made of him, was one kind of sumbitch or another.

Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

tina f.! Have you seen this Winfield film? Jamming in The Grove - including SLR, PoDank and Wilders. Now I'm all homesick.

I am actually going to see pt. 1 tonight at a free screening.

Now I'm all homesick.

Don't despair, katefate. It is only 3 months away!!! I'm going for 6 days this year and I will cry if I think about how excited I am about it.

Tina, it's not too mixable generally, but "Handshake Drugs" would work anywhere.

Noted. Thanks.

Also congrats on your Decemberists tickets - I wish they would come here.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

On the protopunk, punk, and post-punk side, I'd recommend the following for summer mixes:

  • Ramones - "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker" or "California Sun"
  • Buzzcocks - "Everybody's Happy Nowadays"
  • Stooges - "Loose"
  • Clash - "Julie's Been Working For The Drug Squad"
  • The Damned - "Neat Neat Neat"
  • The Slits - "Shoplifting"
  • Wire - "Mannequin"
  • Raincoats - "Fairytale In the Supermarket"
  • Minutemen - "The Glory of Man" or "It's Expected I'm Gone"
  • Camper Van Beethoven - "Ambiguity Song" or "We Saw Jerry's Daughter"
  • The Feelies - "Crazy Rhythms"
  • The Replacements - "Kiss Me On the Bus"
  • Husker Du - "Celebrated Summer"
  • Yo La Tengo - "Little Honda"

I should stop because I could probably go on for another hour.

I wish they would, too. The Long Winters are opening. We were just talking about them, right?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Buzzcocks - "Everybody's Happy Nowadays"

Did they become Revolting after or before?

Yup. And then Alicia mentioned they were on her Buffista Mix and then I got her Buffista mix the next day and got to listen to them. It all worked out nicely. But it would be nicer if I got to see them. Who skips Lawrence? Then again, I might have missed them.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Did they become Revolting after or before?

Revolting Cocks is a whole 'nother band, with all the revulsion and none of the buzz.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Decemberists tour dates. I don't see anything near Kansas.

Hayden -- Make sure you get there early enough to see the Places. It's basically just this one woman named Amy, with another guy helping out on bass. Some good stuff.

t edit sorry 'bout that!

They're playing on my birthday here in SF. I wonder if Emmett would want to see them.
