"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

I'm looking to make myself a new mix cd- something along the lines of a "Hey you nitwit, snap out of it, it's summer, so be happy" kind of mix. (I spend lots of time in the car, so I make a lot of cds.) Anyone got any songs that shouldn't be left out?

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

A instant happy-making song for me on any summer mix is "Acuff-Rose" by Uncle Tupelo, but it will only work if you like the alt. country fiddle thing.

I am making mixes for my b-day party and they are difficult given how little new music I have bought over the past few months. But today - I will buy the new Wilco, Ghost is Born, FINALLY. I am not expecting it to be too mixable, though.

Re: Observer list.

I saw a band last night that listed the Stone Roses as their #1 influence. That seems oddly coincidental.

Takes notes.

I don't know much about the alt. country fiddle thing, but it sounds splendid.

Wow. It turns out I am msbelle! Cherish is one of my #1 summer songs and I had forgotten all about it!

Fly - Sugar Ray
How Bizarre - OMC

These two were on the radio the summer before my senior year, and I worked at a waterpark that played them all the time. Nothing says summer more! I'd throw 'Semi-Charmed Life' in there to complete the circle.

They were on heavy rotation when I drove to LA from NM one summer. Turns out I don't listen to the radio much anymore except when in a car.

Cry Me a River - JT and Beautiful - Christina will always be linked to Ireland with me now because of this.

Tina, it's not too mixable generally, but "Handshake Drugs" would work anywhere.
