Spike? It's you. It's really you! My therapist thought I was holding on to false hope, but…I knew you'd come back. You're like…you're like Gandalf the White, resurrected from the pit of the Balrog, more beautiful than ever. Oh…he's alive Frodo. He's alive.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I don't disagree.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Richard Baron and Marshall Crenshaw - bringing on the 80s pop mafia.

You know that Marshall Crenshaw is playing in the DKT/MC5 touring band, right?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Mark Arm, Evan Dando and Marshall Crenshaw? That's a goofy lineup.

Mark Arm makes total sense. The other two -- NSM. I'm debating if I want to go to the Cambridge show (and I can get in for free -- I'm so fucking jaded).

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

I downloaded "My Idea" from Evan Dando's last album. God help me, it's really really good, in a solid singer-songwriter tune sort of way -- actually, there is something Crenshawian about its vibe, now that I think of the connection. It's very difficult to reconcile this with my fond memories of the zine Die, Evan Dando, Die.

Evan's written some good pop tunes and the recent album isn't bad on the whole.

But playing with the MC5? I. Don't. Think. So.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Arm makes sense with the MC5 - no question.

And Doug Gillard thinks Marshall is a very underrated guitarist. I'm sure he can crank it up. It all just seems...odd.

Oh, I missed that somehow. Heh. No, Evan Dando does not now, nor has he ever, kicked out the jams, motherfuckers.
