Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
Ah, that's the first track. It's used for the Garden State trailer.
My first Frou Frou was "Breathe In," and my favorite might be "Hear Me Out," which was used in the Wonderfalls pilot, and it made me squee. But yeah, the CD is totally awesome. So lovely. Highly recommended. Get it now.
Or get your friend to borrow it from the library and burn you a copy, like I did.
Well, I could iTune it, but from one song I can tell this one's a keeper, so methinks I will round up a few cds to sell to the record store and buy it.
I have major Sarah MCLachlan love and this sounds like its in the same vein. Also, I have not seen the trailer for this
Garden State
of which you speak, but now I want to. Because any movie cool enough for that song is cool enough for me.

Yeah, if you can actually find it in a record store, go for it.

Huh. I never thought of Sarah McLachlan. I thought more of Dido.

Watch it. It's written and directed by Zach Braff (the guy from Scrubs), and it looks really good. Some of the shots in the trailer are amazing. Plus, Natalie Portman.
See, I think of Sarah McLachlan and Dido in the same vein as well. Dido was actually my Sarah McLachlan fill-in while she took 6 freaking years off.
So, yep. Dido, too. I love em both to pieces. Hopefully my groovy favorite record store will have Frou Frou. I gots to buy it there because I'm saving up reward points to get Buffy S6 half price.
I have finished the first two CDs, arrival music (Bossa and latin jazz), and dinner music (lush pop harmonies: Byrds, Beach Boys, Cosmic Rough Riders, Jellyfish, Posies).
I'm working on the dance music. I've given up trying to figure out what the kids dance to anymore, so it's mostly old soul and funk, with smatterings of new wave/punk, Prince, swing and novelties. I know it's stuff that I'll dance to. And JZ will dance to anything with a beat.
I gotta say, the music was fab. Plus, everybody got a copy of one of the CDs as a favor. I have the dinner one, all harmonies as Hec noted. The dance tracks were great, too.

Yeah. I have both Dido CDs, but I haven't heard a lot of Sarah McLachlan beyond the singles. I think my favorite is "Sweet Surrender."

Hey, I want one of those!
Have you tried Jem? The CD is great. And only ten bucks.
All I've heard by Jem is "Just a Ride'. Which was on the tape at the store I work in, which loops every 3 hours. So I need a break from that song.
Sweet Surrender is probably the most like Dido/Frou Frou's style- a little more electric and ethereal than the rest of her stuff. But overall, she is my queen of all things.
Also, my music store is very cool. They'll tell you at the register if they have something used in stock so you can get it cheaper, and with the rewards card you earn points to get things half off. I'm up to about 29 bucks, so I've got a bit to go before I get Buffy cheap.

Yeah, that's the song that's everywhere. It was in Wonderfalls, and it was on The O.C. twice. But I recommend the CD, and you can skip over that song for a while.
Good News for SA and Steph L: CD's are (finally) on the way!
Well, Polter-Cow, I've successfully traded for Frou Frou. And had a good hard laugh at myself while listening to it and realizing that
three
of their songs have been on our store tapes. I guess that Bath and Body Works has good taste in music.
I did recognize 'Just a Ride' on Wonderfalls, though. Now I have more material for my "Music from and Inspired by Wonderfalls" cd. What I had before fell mostly under the "Inspired by" category.
