I'm thinking about buying something very expensive. Maybe an antelope.

Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Oh. Lord.

The Pixies are coming to Columbia, MO. I am going to get to see them. I cannot freaking believe it.

FYI: Hec just wanted to make sure that you knew - they are playing two dates in the Bay Area: 9/24 and 9/25 at the Greek Theatre. Tickets are on sale now. I thought I remembered you mentioning not seeing any dates for them upthread.

This Columbia show is for sure - but hasn't been announced by Pitchfork or Ticketmaster or any other official online place that I can find - so there could be more.

I had so given up hope that they were coming to KS or MO. I am going to hear many screams of joy in my ear on the phone today as I let people know.

Damn - I needed some good news in a serious way. This'll do.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

This just in from Pernice Brothers HQ (actually, from Joyce, their manager): Joe will be interviewed live on the Air America program "The Majority Report," hosted by Janeane Garofalo and Sam Seder. This will happen on Tuesday May 11 at 9:00 p.m. For a list of Air America stations, or to figure out how to listen on the internet (or the intercom, as my Mom used to call it) go to http://www.airamericaradio.com. I believe this interview will be a lot about the "Meat is Murder" book, since Janeane apparently just read it and then contacted us about talking to Joe, but you never know what musical and comedy hijinks will ensue with all of those liberals in one little studio.

I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve. - John Prine

Will it be posted on the Pernice Brothers website? Because Air America hasn't started archiving its shows yet, or at least hasn't made them available, so if you want to hear the interview you'll have to listen to the broadcast or have someone tape it for you.

Woo!!

Ritchie Unterberger came to my booksigning. At one point, I was airing some super-obscure British Invasion clip and I just turned to him and had him ID it for me. He wrote the two volume history of Folk Rock, and also a couple books on cult rockers. And he's one of the main reviewers on AMG.
