You never know if a girl's gonna say 'yes', or if she's gonna laugh in your face and pull out your still-beating heart and crush it into the ground with her heel.

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

Off the hook. Woo!

And Flipper, natch. And the American Music Club. Who else is from the Bay Area?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

And the American Music Club. Who else is from the Bay Area?

Metallica, Chris Isaak, Primus, Green Day, Chuck Prophet, The Avengers, Crime, The Nuns, Beau Brummels, Graham Central Station, Tower of Power, Sylvester, some very famous remixy people that Angus would know, Del The Funkee Homosapien, Digital Underground, Too Short, Faith No More...

David, I'm pretty surprised the CDs are not there yet. I sent them over a week ago.

Well, then you're off the hook. glares in direction of USPS.

The week of April 15. Not the USPS's speediest time of year.

Where's "Sex Bomb" in there?

On a record where my non-functioning turntable can't reach it. Come to think of it, I think an old roommate with whom I've lost touch has the record. And my first run French Frith Kaiser Thompson CD (the one with the nice packaging). I don't mean the same roommate has it, although he might, just that it too got lost in the shuffle & I'm still bummed about it.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

"Old Time Rock and Roll" is indeed vile.

*gasp*

My love for the Seger and for that song is well-documented. However, I gleefully embrace the Bad and the Kitschy in all genres, especially if it can be sung at karaoke.

I always thought that the lyric for "We built This City" is actually "Marconi plays the mambo", referring to Guglielmo Marconi. As was said, Jefferson Airplane/Starship/whatever may have been schlocky, but they were literate.

Now ends my Claven-ness.

Uh, I like Chuck Prophet and Beau Brummels. Mushroom is from the Bay Area, too, right? I've only heard a few songs, but they had the Can thing working.

Henry Kaiser - also local. Also dated one of my friends.

You'd like Crime if you heard them. And now you can on CD, since they're on the Rough Trade Rock and Roll compilation which you should own. No love for Metallica? Dude.

<Picturing juliana in the cliché "Old Time Rock and Roll" video. Not getting any work done. Much as I regret saying this... must. make. it. stop.> :-) Still running? I'm in the I-just-resumed-and-can't-imagine-why-I-want-to-do-another-marathon stage. Except of course as an excuse to meet you. And to go to France and run through some vineyards. Not that either of those needs much justification.

Who else is from the Bay Area?

Game Theory. Loud Family.

I wonder if Scott Miller likes carrots.
