Yes, it's terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true, the bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, and, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies, and everybody lives happily ever after.

Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

you'll have mail tomorrow or Friday.

Yay! And I'll be able to hand-deliver them to Hayden next week!

I've got fancy burning software on my home 'puter so I may have more luck than you with Anne's CD. If so, I'll happily send you a copy.

Midge Ure was the lead singer of Ultravox, but maybe you knew that?

Oh I TOTALLY knew that.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Axton enjoyed a second hurrah in the late Seventies, when her Fretone label issued Rick Dees' chart-topping "Disco Duck."

I have this as an mp3. Whenever I feel that I should be punished for some bad deed I've done, I play it.

I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve. - John Prine

Somewhere
Somehow
Sometime
Some place
I did someone wrong
And now I'm sufferin' with Disco Duck

(Apologies to Little Willie John who is currently spinning in his grave.)

That seems appropriate.

We had to do a dance in gym class to Disco Duck when I was in elementary school. It was traumatizing, but it was still better than the square dancing.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I have a mix-cd question.

I am turning 30 in August and having a big party. As a party-type favor, I want to give out music CD's. They are fairly in expensive and fun. My 2 thoughts were:

Top 30 songs of 1974 or my favorite song from each year 1974-2004.

Which is better?

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

Tina, geez, I don't envy your decision. Good luck.

Woo hoo, hand delivery of CDs from Jon!

Heather, more Southern Rock: The Bottle Rockets (especially The Brooklyn Side) & Blue Mountain (especially Dog Days).

Also, everyone, if you're ever in Memphis, go check out the Stax Museum of American Soul Music. I liked it. A lot.

Aimee, I like the second option better.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Also, everyone, if you're ever in Memphis, go check out the Stax Museum of American Soul Music.

I have GOT to go to Memphis! (I've been wanting to go to Graceland for years.)
